Key Responsibilities
Achieve the SHE Strategy and Operational Plan in accordance to set targets
Develop the Total SHE Management System strategic plan and ensure implementation across the Group
Ensure compliance with SHE legislation and other requirements (OHS Act and its Regulations, NEMA, ISO Standards)
Determine plant-specific legal requirements
Manage MHI and AEL licenses
Maintain and update the legal registers in accordance with changes in legislation
Manage requirements related to SHE and other standards (ISO14001 and ISO45001)
Drive SHE empowerment into Manufacturing
Facilitate action teams and improvement programs to continually improve on identified risks
Lead and maintain the multi-site certification to ISO14001 and ISO 45001
Develop SHE management system policies and procedures
Manage and improve the SHE management system in alignment with stakeholder and legislative requirements
Drive internal audits and SHE management reviews. Identify gaps and ensure timely implementation of corrective / preventive actions (CAPA)
Lead risk assessments, aspect and impact studies and other core SHE tools
Lead drive and conduct an in-depth verification and validation on all finding closures across all plants as per the stipulated audits
Lead annual Management Reviews for Head Office
Monitor and maintain the Group SHE Management system
Establish SHE objectives and targets
Update and maintain the Safety and Health, Legal Tracker and Environment Board Reports and registers
Develop, improve, update and maintain SHE Policies, Procedures, Protocols, Work Instructions, Codes of Practice, etc.
Advise management of changes in legislation
Be the Head Office management representative for the ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems and any other newly introduced management systems
Conduct internal ISO14001 and ISO 45001 system audits
Coordinate readiness for external ISO 14001 and ISO45001 certification audits
Establish internal and external audit program
Conduct Legal Compliance Audits
Implement a Risk Management program that is in-line with Business SHE requirements
Facilitate action teams and improvement programs to continually improve upon identified risks
Identify potential hazards and critical safety issues in the workplace
Address workplace hazards and risks
Conduct plant risk assessments and aspect and impact assessments and update accordingly when there are any process or activity changes
Maintain and update the risk registers
Ensure an enabling SHE climate/culture
Ensure a safe, secure and legal working environment
Manage individual, team and departmental performance to achieve organisational objectives
Conduct training with regard to root cause analysis, HIRA, incident investigation, legal compliance and ISO training
Manage SHE-related communication with both internal and external stakeholders
Identify, suggest and implement corrective actions to improve SHE within Feltex
Develop methods to improve incident/accident investigations.
