Job Description

Main Purpose of Job:

The Contract Manager will be overall responsible for client contract management, which includes V-Motion to drive yard management, people management, damage management, campaign management, oversee CM & S facility and quality management.

Education/Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / with English fluency (spoken and written)
  • NQF level 6 or 7 in Operations Management/Logistics Management/Engineering
  • Minimum of 8 years working experience in yard management and/or contract management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid experience in people management within a highly unionized environment
  • Solid experience in relationship building (Clients and co-workers)
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

Duties and Key Responsibilities:

1. Ensure client contracts are managed and aligned to:

- Company and Client Objectives, standards and strategy

- ISO requirements

- Company BBBEE objectives

- High Level Client Engagement and communications.

- Ensure all contractual commitments are met.

- Ensure all contractual KPI’s and performance measures are in place with monthly reviews and reporting to key stakeholders.

- Ensure all lead-times are properly monitored and KPI are measured and presented in relation to lead-times and damages.

- Ensure suitable organizational structures and resources in place to meet MBSA requirements.

- High focus on financial results:

- Cost Optimization

- Budget execution

- Maximized profitability

- Constantly identify and explore continuous improvement initiatives.

- Supplier performance measurement and reporting.

- Ensure vehicle flow is being monitored accurately to detect deviations in the supply chain (deviation reports) taking necessary corrective actions to avoid vehicles being delayed.

- Proactive approach.

- Damage monitoring and Claims management.

- Ensure appropriate customer service and attitude.

2. Overseeing the running of the CM&S Workshop:

- Ensure that the operations run efficiently and effectively in line with Company and Client standards

- Ensure profitability and productivity is increased in the workshop through optimal resource utilisation and cost reduction

- Maintain sufficient resources in the departments in terms of personnel, tools, and equipment

- Ensure proper maintenance of tools, equipment, and other materials in the workshop.

- Promote continuous improvement by analysing current procedures and develop and implement new procedures

- Monitor the workflow to anticipate the impact of work delays, interruptions, or changes in plans to develop appropriate course of actions, due to absenteeism and increase in work volume.

- Audit and review work orders to ensure that all actions have been documented according to policies and procedures.

- Plan, implement and monitor annual budgets for the department, scheduling expenditures, analysing, and reporting on variances and taking appropriate corrective actions to compensate for variances.

 

3. Manage all productive staff effectively and efficiently

- Plan and adjust staff workloads and allocate daily tasks and activities to staff by assigning tasks to match their skills and abilities.

- Provide advice and technical assistance to team members.

- Ensure all operations staff adhere to Standard Operating Procedures

- Ensure all staff are adequately trained in terms of their duties and the use of various products and equipment

- Using the Performance Management system ensure all staff are appraised on the performance of their duties and given sufficient training, coaching, and mentoring where applicable.

- Ensure all new staff are properly inducted on all matters such as work facilities, policies, procedures, equipment use and job descriptions.

- Ensure all departments employees’ clocking’s are authorised and time sheets are submitted to payroll on a weekly basis

- Ensure corrective action is taken on employees who do not comply with policies and procedures of the company
